I used to think my job tired me out and drained me then I started to blame old age getting to me. Not true. How your day goes is dictated by what kind of food you start your morning with. If you’re fuelling your temple with a ton of refined sugar like bagels, muffins, cereal, toast and jam, or gut-wrenching egg McMuffins, you will crash in the afternoon. Not to mention the type of sugary lunch you may have such as pasta, sandwiches, noodles, rice. That equals big time carb crashes and as a result, we suffer from prolonged carbohydrate toxicity that causes inflammation which leads to almost all modern diseases. Notice around 2 pm everyone is headed for coffee or those nasty-good-for-nothing sugar-loaded energy drinks? Imagine what your children are going through as well at school with their sugary snacks, it’s no wonder children are being diagnosed with type-2 diabetes at such an early age! Continue reading
With the unfavourable prevailing economic conditions, people are undergoing a lot of stress. And if you live in Alberta then it has been magnified by ten fold so how do you think beyond this situation? The 2015 recession is going to leave its mark – in more ways than one and it’s not correcting itself anytime soon. In recent news, the major oil companies are now starting to lay people off. If you’ve been following the news, then you know it’s been an extremely crucial time for businesses, families, our children’s future, our parents who are going into retirement and much more. Suicide counts have gone up, crime rates have soared, foreclosures happening left right and centre, people are depleting their savings and RRSPs leaving them with major retirement setbacks, divorce has increased and Continue reading
When you have figured out your ‘why‘ in life, you must then decide on what you want to do, be and have. How do you want your life to look like? Will what you are doing right now get you to the life that you deserve? If you continue what you are doing for the next 5 – 10 years what will that look like for you and your family? Many people decide what they want their life to look like based on their current situation. What I tell my clients is to take 20 – 45 minutes with their journal and blue ink, and write down, if money wasn’t an object, all that their hearts desire. This step is THE most crucial because one of the main reasons why most people don’t get what they want is because they haven’t decided on it yet. Continue reading
The financial consequences of a serious illness are often worse than those of death. In addition, the chances of a critical illness attack on any of us are much higher than those of death, at least before retirement age. Critical illness coverage/insurance is a long-term insurance policy where you’ll get a ‘lump sum’ of money tax free. Think of it as a one-off payment if you’re diagnosed with one of the serious illnesses covered by your insurance policy. Let’s face it, in these high stress times, it is more often that someone is diagnosed with heart attack, stroke, end stage renal failure, major organ transplant, or a total loss of hearing or sight.
If you think about which friend or family member that has recently been diagnosed it is always surprising and these are the kinds of surprises people don’t like. But it happens, daily. CI coverage is designed to pay off your mortgage, debts, or pay for alterations to your home such as wheelchair access should you need it, because when you are diagnosed with a critical illness and need time off from work for treatments your employer will not be paying you for time off. As well, the medication and treatments that are not covered by your health plan can be very costly. Again, the money you get from a critical illness policy can be used to pay off a mortgage or rent, to pay for medical bills, on going bills or for anything else.
Things don ‘t change overnight; however, things can change with commitment to practice. Healing your body with yoga takes the same dedication. Commitment is the key to healing. In order for the body to heal and see results from yoga practice, you must commit to a program. Commercialized course that are taken sporadically that are nearly filled to the walls with everyone else’s energy may leave you feeling scattered. For you to fully understand the emotional dynamics and the results of your physical body that has manifested you must be able to be in an environment that allows you to free your mind from all the untamed and framed thoughts taught by society and religions in order for you to survive. Learn how to truly live your own life through love, and compassion and contentment to heal yourself and this planet. Once the mind is free and you give it the gift of practicing pain and stress management the body will be free from all the pain and stresses it thinks it has will create inner harmony and balance.
Inner Evolution Healing Center in Vancouver is offering a unique Chi Yoga and Active Meditation that consists of 15 classes in total. These 15 classes are 2 hour long commitments every Monday. Why 2 hours? Because it is about healing and manifesting your inner freedom. It’s about connecting to your emotional self, your Prana, which is the Sanskrit word for “life force”. It is also about creating mindfulness and setting your mind free from the conditions that it was brought up in as a unification of your inner being to bring balance and harmony. It is not about relaxing for an hour then rushing back to work. If all you do in a week is take these 2 hours for your Self your body will be rewarded with transformation through pain release by practice.
What is Chi Yoga?
Chi is the word used in Chinese for energy, the natural life force sustaining our lives. To keep our bodies healthy we need this essence or Chi flowing freely. Yoga means the union between mind, body and spirit. Chi Yoga is a blend of the wisdom and practices of yoga with other ancient practices from China and Japan. Chi Yoga is the vital energy that unites body, mind and spirit. A concept that has its origins in early Chinese philosophy. Chi has been linked to the yogic concept of Prana and can also be thought of as life force. Chi yoga is the creative union of the Chinese and Indian ancient practices with the western background of kinesiology and psychology patterns. It can improve flexibility, coordination, balance and energy while reducing stress. These gentle and graceful movements with deep breathing exercises provide benefits that can be experienced by people of any age.

Week 2 of my metabolical reset is officially complete. I’m into my 3rd week of detox and am stronger than ever! I’m feeling much [Better] than I did the first couple weeks. The week of prep before the detox was challenging because I was on my own and knew that I was going to be cutting out a lot so fear and second guessing myself sank in. Most people, would feel that they should get in as much of the junk or drinks before doing a detox, but I knew that if I did that my body would get sick or suffer through withdrawal and I knew I was in for a long haul. So I did my best knowing my final days were nearing and for some reason that corn dog at the Calgary Stampede tasted SOOOOO good although it didn’t resonate with me at all because it did not align with what I was doing here in Calgary. I came back to Calgary for a month not for the Stampede but to be home, reset and move forward.
The first week of detox was more of a mind game. All the information that I was gaining from Melissa Sterling shocked me. I was a trainer at one point and I have had trainers for myself and what I was taught was not at all in my good books now. The items that I was buying at the grocery store that I thought were good for me in reality weren’t and she told me why and it made sense. All the rich foods and wine that I loved were an illusion of what my body really wanted. The 2nd week of detox was harsh on me physically as my body was in the 2nd half of the 1st phase. When the body is cleansing you can experience detox symptoms. For me, I was feeling extremely tired, I got some really deep sleeps and also slept in like I was a teenager again; but my body needed that from working so hard. I had very low energy, I was’t bubbly at all and I felt like maybe it wasn’t for me and that I couldn’t do it. Yes, I was delusional but now I’m back and more energetic than ever!
Before doing the Douglas Labs detox (please consult with your nutritionist) you must be prepared emotionally for sure. Focus on the bigger picture, be aware of what your body is going through and be awakened to a [Better] you. I’m feeling great this week! I’m excited for some travels and I knew that this wasn’t just a ‘cleanse’ or detox but a lifestyle change. I look at food differently, I shop at grocery stores differently and really think before I order. I have been sleeping better and been able to wake up earlier than I was during my symptoms, I have more energy, greater clarity of thought and if I thought I was pretty positive before I am vomiting positivity everywhere! Not to mention that my muffin tops aren’t liking this new lifestyle so they are slowly saying goodbye. Forget the 2 day or week cleanses. They are too harsh on the body and how can you maintain if you don’t create new habits? This transformation is for everyone as everyone could use a little improvement. I’m not here to turn vegan or never have a glass of wine ever again, or to live until I’m 111, my focus is to make sure that I am part of the process that creates a healthy me so that I can enjoy my human experience as it was supposed to be enjoyed! Many blessings and cheers to living [Better].
Week 1 of my metabolical reset is officially complete. WOOT WOOT! I’m celebrating with a double lemon water on the rocks…literally on the rocks. Thank you Universe for sending me the team of amazing support! Melissa Sterling, of Sterlingize, for always having my vitamins and shakes ready on hand and educating me on EVERYTHING! Ben Hambright, one of our core and founding tribe members, for always having the best juices and grab bags for me to go as well as teaching ME how to cook healthier. And of course to all of YOU that I am accountable to.
Besides labour and having dry sockets when all four of my wisdom teeth were removed THIS has been the next toughest challenge. Changing my neuro-pathways in the next 3 more weeks will save my life and not only make me live longer but live healthier. I have too much to live for, too many dreams to make come true still and too many people that are relying on me; I don’t want to be in Hospital for how I treated my temple.
There are 2 phases to transform toxins so they can be eliminated from the body and both phases have to be in balance with one another. I’m halfway through phase 1 so during this phase, a group of over 50 enzymes called the Cytochrome P450 system converts non-water soluble chemicals into water soluble for easier elimination. This process involves oxidation, which produces free radicals (oxidants) and other harmful compounds that may be linked to countless health conditions. You learn something new every day!
I thought I was pretty healthy, I trained and used to work at a gym, I thought I ate healthy until this. I’m learning, growing and detoxing for a better me. I’m so blessed and grateful to be on the right path. Cheers to health!
