Let’s get together and network with a purpose and pay it forward because are able to. No matter where you are in the world, no matter what industry you are in, no matter your age, race or beliefs, if you are male or female, whatever you look like, bullying is the most common form of violence in society and it is more prominent with youths ending in deaths. Both the bully and the victim need real attention and help from within and the following factors needs to be investigated: family, school and peer factors.
There are 4 types of abuse through bullying:
emotional || verbal || physical || and with the growth of social networking sites – cyber.
If you have ever experienced verbal harassment, being threatened, physical assault or the act of coercion, then you have been a victim of bullying. Bullies are habitual and they feed off the emotional distraught of their victims and they come from a place of darkness and need just as much help and love as the victims do. It all starts with Self.
We remember the families and loved ones that have lost someone to bullying because they are the ones that are left with the pain and they are in need our help in the continuation to raise this awareness and to have more voices to stand up with them so that no one ever has to experience this in any way. And so this “Mingle with a Purpose” is dedicated to the beloved Amanda Todd.
Amanda Todd, of Coquitlam, BC, was a victim of mobbing which is group of bullies who stalked her and harassed her in cyberspace and then she was physically assaulted in person in the schoolyard. Before Amanda passed away on October 10th, 2012, at the age of 15, she had created a video sharing her painful experiences of being blackmailed, bullied and assaulted in the hopes of saving other youths of similar suffering, you can see her video here: http://youtu.be/vOHXGNx-E7E
This video went viral and her mother Carol Todd is now travelling and sharing her story and continuing her legacy by sharing this experience and educating children, teachers and parents on how to recognize this abuse and how to stop it. We are huge advocates in personal development and Self esteem starts from within. And as all factors are being looked at we have to take ownership to ensure that parents, teachers and peers are giving children the right tools to grow within and the right information with an open door policy the minute someone feels that they are being bullied or on their way to be a bully. Cyber collaboration brings social awareness and the ability for all of us to use our voice and educate others on recognizing early signs of this abuse on both sides.
This is just a small part of many steps that need much attention to in order to stop bullying and it is very important that it starts with us and our community. Deejay No Luv from SONIC 104.9FM will be spinning the hits all night long while we mingle with like-mindFUL people and celebrate the abundance of love that we can share with others. Let’s celebrate the power of community and the strength to carry on a legacy that Amanda would have wanted us to be a part of. Thank you, thank YOU, THANK YOU.
With so much love and gratitude,
